The Five Major Concepts In Health Care

"What if the world was in such a delicate state of balance that the decisions you make in the next 24 hours would tip the balance one way or another?"

There are five major concepts in health care

1) Vitalism Vs. Atavism
Vitalism is the belief that the human body is a coalesence of the sum of it internal structures working together towards wellness and homeostasis. It also pertains to the fact that we as humans live beyond a material world, that there is a spiritual aspect to our lives that cannot go uncounted for. Atavism is based upon the old scientific principles of genetic predisposition, that we have no control over our health destiny. Current science and philisophical thinking shows that atavism is no longer a correct understanding of how the human body functions. Chiropractors agree that vitalistic principles always surpass atavistic principles.

2) Naturalism Vs. Articialism
Is the human body able to control its own environment naturally without the use of articial products? For example, is natural immunity more powerful than artificially created immunities through vaccines? We know that natural immunities passed down via the mother and developed by the child last a lifetime, whereas artificial immunity through vaccines are not dependable, nor reliable for long term immunity. Chiropractors believe that the natural state is the best breading ground for wellness.

3) Humanism vs. authoritarianism
Humanism is based upon the fact that we should address all personal needs from a perspective of love, sharing, decency, and respect. Authoritariansim is based upon a authority figure prescribing us, or recommending to us actions we should take, without question nor reproach. Chiropractic has always been in the humanistic realm, this is why we have the highest satisfaction level among all health care providers.

4) Wholism Vs. Reductionism
Should we just investigate the parts of our body without looking at the whole person? Medicine gets stuck in this trap. For example, if someone develops stomach ulcers, the reductionist view is to give a medication for it since it's a stomach problem. But, the wholistic view is that we should look at the person's levels of stress, lack of balance in their lives, and overall body function to determine why the stomach in malfunctioning. Chirorpractic has always been a wholistic health care system.

5) Conservative therapies vs. High risk intervention
Conservative therapies tend to be low cost, low risk, and preventative in nature. High risk interventions, such as drugs and surgeries are very costly, usually result from long term unattended declining health situations, as well as lack of care for the body, and carry significant risk of permanent injury or death. In fact, allopathic medicine is the third leading cause of death in this country! Which would you prefer?

What is a subluxation?

A subluxation is a SIGN that an organism is stressed beyond its limits, not to the point of death, but enough that the organism cannot fully function. (For those who may not know, the subluxation process is a misalignment of the spine, causing loss of neurological integrity and spinal decay).

What is your GAP? (GAP = General Adaptation Potential)

GAP is the ability for your body to adapt to its environment. For example, if your boss is criticizing you, is your body able to adapt to the circumstances, or does it crumble under the perceived stress and lead to spinal subluxations and diminished health? Regular chiropractic care enhances your GAP, thus allowing your body better adaptive abilities.

What is wellness?

The degree to which an individual experiences health and vitality in any dimension in life. OVERALL wellness would describe the sum of all of life's dimensions.

It's important to note that the average person's understanding of wellness is simply "feeling good." This is totally inaccurate. You could be feeling good and be dying of breast cancer, or you could be feeling good and have 10 cavities in your teeth going undetected. Another aspect of true wellness is for a person who may be dying, but reconnects with long lost family members and friends as part of the healing process. The physical body may be dying, but the mental and spiritual aspects of that person are reaching hightened levels of wellness. This is why the definition mentions "dimensions" of life, because we are not just physical beings. We have different dimensions of life that all need wellness, such as spiritual, financial, physical, mental, and relational. Are there areas of your life that lack wellness? If so, they impact your health - make changes now to bring wellness back to your life by investigating areas that are weak and need improvement.

How do you create Wellness?

Creating wellness is the process of cultivating and actualizing health and vitality in any dimension of your life. Some examples are:
-striving for a higher quality of life experience
-reclaiming your life
-more efficient states of function and more success with your health
-proactively creating new states of health and overall health experiences rather then maintaining a current state or preventing future negative ones.
-learning to manage, process, and dissipate stress more efficiently
-actualizing your potential to reach goals.

Chiropractic is the primary force in health care that allows and encourages wellness by enhancing the function of the mind/body connection know as the nervous system. As your body "reconnects" through regular chiropractic care, your levels of wellness are naturally hightened. You begin making healthier decisions, you begin actualizing new health goals, you see that you have a tremendous power within you to heal, encourage, and to impact the lives of others. Chiropractic can take you to places you've never experienced before!

Well, I hope this stimulates your thought processes today. If you have not been adjusted lately, then call today to make an appointment. Your wellness is depending upon it. Remember wellness is a life style.
